Course Hero is Looking for Lead Copywriter

As it continues to grow and expand, it is making significant investments in its brand, and in particular, how it communicates with its customers. To that end, Course Hero is looking for a talented and versatile lead copywriter who, in partnership with the director of brand design, will help to maintain the brand voice and tone, establish writing best practices, and define Course Hero’s copywriting strategy across all brand and marketing touchpoints for its student, educator, and tutor audiences. 

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic storyteller and creative writer who can deliver projects big and small and who works effectively in a highly collaborative, team-based environment. The lead copywriter will not only bring their own writing skills to each of their projects, they'll help elevate the work of other writers and non-writers on the team, collectively producing compelling, on-brand copy that engages, informs and supports the customers throughout their learning and teaching journeys. 

Here are some ways the selected candidate will make an impact: 

  • Learn, maintain, and develop Course Hero’s brand voice, tone, and writing guidelines
  • Collaborate with designers, marketers, and other team members to invent and shape the vision, strategy, and creative approach on high impact brand and marketing initiatives 
  • Concept and execute messaging for internal and external-facing creative, including brand campaigns, emails, advertising, landing pages, events, video projects, social campaigns, blog articles and more
  • Develop copy solutions to scale Course Hero’s brand voice and writing best practices across teams, and manage copy projects from ideation through completion
  • Uplevel work through meticulous editing and research to make sure all our communications are factually, grammatically and stylistically correct

Are you the next Lead Copywriter? 

  • 8+ years of copywriting and marketing experience in an agency or in-house setting
  • Possess a dynamic portfolio of brand marketing, advertising and product marketing writing samples
  • Experience collaborating with designers and cross-functional partners to define, test, and execute high-impact projects  
  • Ability to create compelling copy for diverse audiences, both internal and external, with fresh perspective, outstanding craft, and attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to confidently present work to a variety of different audiences and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage other writers, including mentoring and developing the skillsets of junior and mid-level copywriters
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and balancing multiple projects at a time. Able to manage processes and deadlines proactively 
  • Familiar with SEO and how it applies to marketing copy in order to effectively support our content marketing efforts

The base pay for this position is dependent on multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed below. One may also be eligible to participate in its bonus program and may be offered an equity award, benefits, and other types of compensation. This role is eligible for hire in the San Francisco Bay Area (US), Vancouver (Canada), and Toronto (Canada). In accordance with California law, the base salary for this role if filled within California is $132,000 - $178,000.
