Diversifying Educational Offerings to Meet Student Needs

As career opportunities in business and nursing boom, higher education institutions strive to diversify their educational offerings to meet the varying needs of their students. Obtaining a degree by means of a traditional college education is not always a viable or desirable option for some students, and so many seek alternate options to secure quality education and pursue their academic and career goals.

Manhattanville College, a small, private liberal arts institution just outside of New York City, is collaborating with online facilitator Academic Partnerships (AP) to offer online undergraduate and graduate level programs to empower working students to obtain the degrees they need for the jobs they want.

According to the latest issue of the U.S. News & World Report, Manhattanville is among the Top Performers for Social Mobility among private, non-profit schools in its category. “We are seeing increasing evidence that students need flexibility in both time and location to pursue their academic goals,’’ said Interim President Louise Feroe, Ph.D. “While there are indeed students who seek a traditional residential campus experience, there are others looking for options that fit in with their busy lives. These programs address those needs making a college education more accessible to a variety of populations.”

Beginning in January 2023 and with applications now open, the college will launch a portfolio of online degrees supported by Academic Partnerships, listed below:

  • MS – Business Leadership
  • MS – Finance
  • MS – Human Resource Management
  • MS – Marketing Communication Management
  • MS – Sport Business and Entertainment Management
  • MS – Nurse Leader
  • BS – Business Management
  • BS – Computer Science
  • BS – Finance
  • BS – Marketing

“We are really proud of our new online offerings,” said Troy Cogburn, Vice President of Admissions and Marketing at Manhattanville. “The new programs will allow us to reach a broader group of students who would otherwise not be able to benefit from a Manhattanville education. With programs being developed and offered in all three schools at the college, students will be able to pursue a quality education in business, nursing, and education among other tracks.”

The college plans to develop more online offerings within the next year including some in education. Manhattanville and its faculty will ensure academic quality of the online offerings by directly managing the teaching, curriculum, and course content. AP’s role is to assist with prospective student outreach and to collaborate with and consult faculty to successfully convert courses to an attractive online format.

“We are thrilled to support Manhattanville’s new online programs,” said Howard Rouse, AP President of University Partnerships. “The new programs have been designed specifically for working adults, and values both coursework and real-world experience.  Manhattanville’s exceptional faculty – the same faculty that would teach the courses in-person in New York – are true subject-matter experts, and they have developed a strong curriculum that is highly relevant to the needs of today’s employers. We’re excited about this new partnership, and their high-quality, affordable offerings are perfectly aligned with AP’s mission.”

The new online undergraduate and graduate programs are an appealing addition to Manhattanville’s existing business and nursing programs for students seeking alternative means to completing their education. The offerings showcase the college’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity, and with the assistance from AP, more students will be able to obtain quality, affordable, and industry-relevant education.
